Belgium to be Highlighted in Taipei International Book Fair Next Year
Taipei, July 16 (CNA) Belgium will be highlighted at the Taipei International Book Exhibition to be held early next year, organizers said in Taipei Monday.
The Taipei Book Fair Foundation, which organizes the annual event, said the exhibition is scheduled to take place from Jan. 30 to Feb. 4, 2013 in all three halls of the Taipei World Trade Center.
Besides making the announcement, organizers began on Monday accepting applications from local publishers that intend to take part in the event.
A pavilion of a foreign country is set up every year to promote exchanges between Taiwan and that country, the foundation said.
The organizers plan to invite the designer team for the “Cook and Book” bookstore in Brussels, which was to design the national pavilion of Belgium.
The bookstore was named one of “the 20 Most Beautiful Bookstore in the World” by cultural news website Flavorwire in early 2012.
Citing famous Belgium comics and animation, including “The Adventure of Tin Tin” and “The Smurfs,” the foundation said a section in the pavilion will showcase the country’s graphic arts and illustration.
The organizers will arrange performance during the event to shed light on the country being the origin of saxophones.
