5 Days Splendor Taiwan & Alishan Sunrise Tour - $1170

Day 1: Taipei / Hualien / Taroko Gorge (X / L / D)
You will be picked up from hotel in Taipei city by our friendly Taiwan Holidays tour guide.  We will depart to Taroko National Park via Su-Hwa Highway and Hsuei-Shan Long Tunnel (12.9 Kms).
 
Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful area of Taiwan. It is the 'Seven Wonder of Asia", its narrow raving created by the Liwu River which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock rewinding its way past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. Stops will be made at External Spring Shrine, Swallow Grotto, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Marble Bridge, Tienshiang and Marble Factory. Tour will stay overnight at Hualien.

Day 2: Hualien / Sun Moon Lake/ Taichung (B/ L/ D)
Enjoy breakfast at hotel, and then we will drive to to Sun Moon Lake which is located in the middle of Taiwan and situated 762 meters above sea level in the lofty mountains of Central Taiwan. Tour will stop at the famous Wenwu Temple or Literature Warrior Temple dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword, Holy Monk Shrine and peacock garden. After touring round Sun Moon Lake and The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, tour will proceed to Taichung, Fongjia Night Market.

The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village is located in Yuchih County in central Taiwan's Nantou County. It was established in 1986 and covers a total area of 62 hectares. The area is a very short distance northeast of the Sun Moon Lake. The Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village was established to preserve the culture, traditions and history of Taiwan's native aborigines. Groups and individuals from each of the island's 12 aboriginal tribes (Amis, Atayal, Bunun, Kavalan, Paiwan, Pinuyumayan or Punuyumayan, Rukai, Saisiyat, Thao, Truku, Tsou, and Yami) gather here regularly. They demonstrate their unique creative skills by using traditional tools to make exquisite handicrafts and items of daily necessity. Wearing authentic clothing and adornments, they also perform traditional songs and dances to the sounds of ancient musical instruments.

The Sun Moon Lake, located in the middle of Taiwan, with an elevation of 748 meters above sea level, is the only natural big lake in Taiwan. The southern part of Kuang Hua Island is shaped like a new moon, and the northern part is shaped like a sun; hence the name Sun Moon Lake. Scenic resources, the most famous sights around Sun Moon Lake, are the Te Hua House, Kuang Hua Island, the Hsuan Tsang Mosque, the Tzu-En Pagoda, and the Wen Wu Temple and so on. The natural forests bordering these roads are good places for bird watching.


The Fongjia Night Market is one of the Taichung's famous commercial business districts, where you can find delicious snack foods, quality clothes at reasonable prices to express your unique personality, and the trendiest mobile phones at excellent bargain prices. Stroll along the area and you will understand why people say Taiwan is truly a shopper's paradise that can satisfy even the most extravagant consumer needs.

Day 3: Taichung /  Alishan National Scenic Area (B / L / D)
After breakfast, we will travel to Alishan National Scenic Area.

Alishan ('Ali Mountain' in Chinese) is renowned for its alpine forests, ethnic minority culture, people and the famous Alishan Forest Railway. It is located in the northeastern part of Chiayi County and is renown for its alpine forests, ethnic minority culture,people and the famous Alishan Forest Railway. The scenic area covers four Chiayi County townships including Alishan, Meishan, Zhuqi, and Fanlu, occupying an area of 32,700 hectares. Alishan has abundant natural resources and culture led to its recognition by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications(MOTC) in March of 2001 as a national scenic area, with the Tourism Bureau, establishing an Alishan National Scenic Area Administration responsible for overseeing the tourism development of the area.
Overnight at Alishan and you can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery around.

Day 4: Alishan Sunrise Viewing / Taipei City Sightseeing (B / L / D)         
The sunrise view is one of the four major attractions at Alishan. Tour starts early morning to travel with Alishan Forest Railway and enjoy the magnificent Alishan sunrise. After that you can enjoy the breakfast, the tour then will continue to visit Taipei city.

Sightseeings for today are: National Taiwan Democracy and National Palace Museum, which houses the world's largest and most valuable collections of Chinese art treasures. The collection is even too large to be displayed at one time! While many popular pieces remain on permanent display, other items are rotated regularly, making each visit unique. Lunch will be held at the famous restaurant inside the museum where the chef was favored by the ex-President Chen. After lunch, we will visit Martyrs' Shrine, is a classic Ming Dynasty architecture, and you might have the opportunity to see the colorful ceremony of the changing of the guards at the entrance. After dinner, you will visit the most famous landmark of Taiwan, "Taipei 101 Tower", it is the world second tallest building. Tonight you can visit other vibrant night life of of Taipei. National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall (Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall) is an impressive monument built in commemoration of the late President Chiang. The majestic hall towers over 25 hectares of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds. A stature of the late president Chiang looks out over the city from the main building.
The elegant Ming Dynasty-style arch at the main entrance is flanked by two classical buildings-the National Theater and the national concert hall. The square between the two buildings is a popular gathering place during festive occasions.

The National Palace Museum houses the world's largest collection of priceless Chinese art treasures, one which spans China's nearly 5,000-year history. Most of the museum's 620,000 art objects were part of the Chinese imperial collection, which began over 1,000 years ago in the early Sung dynasty.

Martyrs' Shire
This is an excellent example of classical Ming Dynasty architecture, dedicated to the fallen heroes of China’s wars. There is an hourly changing of the guards ceremony at the entrance, which many people find interesting.

Taipei 101 Mall
- brings together the most popular international brands in stores that sell clothing, accessories, cosmetics and skin care products along with the Page One book store and the Sony Style flagship store. Jasons Market Place offers fresh foods and cooking materials from all over the world.

Day 5: Taipei / North Coast Scenic Areas / Chiufen Village / Dienshuei Old Street / Taipei (B / L / X)
After breakfast, we will visit  the panoramic view of Yehliu Geo-Park which is famous for its natural rocks formations. 
 
Yehliu Park, Taiwan’s northeast coast, where is well-known for its spectacular rock formations, sculptured throughout the ages by wind and sea erosion leaving fascinating pillars including the famous Queen's Head and Fairy's Shoe, Cinderella's Slipper, candlestick rocks, Stone Steps, Caves of the Eight Immortals and many others. The area is the closest coast to the famous Green Island. Delicious Lunch will be held near "Rainbow Bridge". It is the end of the Shiouguluan River Rafting stop, where the river widens out and becomes calm. The river bed here is scattered with large snow-white boulders that have been given the name of " Shiouguluan jade." Then going to the Dienshuei (Fisherman's Wharf). You will be able to see many interesting boutique shops that carries the history of Taiwan. The "Tamshui Old Street" will be visited, where you can taste the many famous Taiwanese gourmet or snacks.
