Classic China in 22 Days

DAYS 1-2: AUSTRALIA TO SHANGHAI

Fly overnight with Singapore Airlines to Shanghai for a two-night stay. Upon arrival we explore the Pudong area. Our dinner will be a banquet of traditional Shanghai cuisine.

DAY 3: SHANGHAI

Today we visit Shanghai Museum, the Yu Gardens, the Silk Museum, the Old Town, stroll along the famous Bund and explore the Xintiandi area. Enjoy a cruise along the stunning Huangpu River this evening.

DAY 4: SHANGHAI TO BEIJING

Fly to Beijing this morning. We enjoy sightseeing today at the exquisite Summer Palace. In the evening we sample the local delicacy, ‘Peking Duck’.

DAYS 5-6: BEIJING

Enjoy an exciting walk along the Great Wall and visit the 15th-century Temple of Heaven. This evening we enjoy a Chinese Acrobatic show. The following day we stroll through Tiananmen Square past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum, followed by a visit to the 15th Century Forbidden City.

DAY 7: BEIJING TO XIAN

This morning we enjoy some shopping time at the copy markets before we board our overnight train to Xian.

DAY 8: XIAN

Upon arrival in Xian this morning we visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda, the fascinating Shaanxi Provincial Museum, walk through the Muslim Quarter and explore the Islamic food markets. This evening we feast on a Shui Jiao Dumpling banquet while enjoying a traditional Tang Dynasty dance performance.

DAY 9: XIAN

Today we visit one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the 20th Century, the life-size Terracotta Warriors. We also visit the ancient City Wall, one of the best preserved in all of China.

DAY 10: XIAN TO WUHAN -YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

Fly to Wuhan this morning and transfer (approx 4-5 hours) to Yichang, the boarding point of our Yangtze River cruise for the next four nights.

DAYS 11-13: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE

Enjoy a tour to the Three Gorges Dam before cruising on the mighty Yangtze River. Along the way we will cruise through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and take shore excursions (subject to change) to explore the fascinating history and tranquil landscapes of the tributaries.

DAY 14: CHONGQING TO GUILIN

We disembark from our cruise in Chongqing and visit the Panda House at Chongqing Zoo. Later we fly to Guilin.

DAY 15: GUILIN

Enjoy a cruise along the Li River today as we immerse ourselves in the breathtaking views of this unique landscape.

DAY 16: GUILIN TO KUNMING

This morning we visit the stunning Reed Flute Caves and Mt. Diecai before boarding our flight to Kunming. At dinner tonight we enjoy ‘Across the Bridge Noodles’, a specialty of the region.

DAY 17: KUNMING

Enjoy a full day tour of the picturesque Stone Forest, where massive limestone columns form a vast forest of surreal shapes and images.

DAY 18: KUNMING TO LIJIANG

Fly to Lijiang. Upon arrival we wander through the quaint cobbled streets and meandering canals of the old quarter. We also visit the Black Dragon Pool. This evening we attend the acclaimed Naxi ancient music show.

DAY 19: LIJIANG

We visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge today, one of the deepest gorges in the world.

DAY 20: LIJIANG TO KUNMING

Today we catch a chairlift to explore one of the meadows of the impressive Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and enjoy the amazing scenery before we fly to Kunming.

DAY 21: DEPART KUNMING

Enjoy the morning at leisure before we transfer to Kunming airport to board our overnight flight to Australia.

DAY 22: ARRIVE AUSTRALIA

Arrive home this morning.
