They also made time for shopping – "My wife has never been to Taiwan before, and I told her that a fashionista like her needs to visit the amazing night markets," said Schneider – and sightseeing.

The couple visited the Ten Ren Tea Culture museum, the Taipei 101 skyscraper, and the National Palace Museum, before departing on Sunday.

Taipei, July 5 (CNA) Hollywood comedian Rob Schneider and his wife will on Friday start a nine-day trip to Taiwan, during which they will spend their second honeymoon and shoot various short films promoting the island, the Tourism Bureau said Thursday.

Schneider, who came to Taiwan 12 years ago to promote his film "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo" and fell in love with the island, chose it as his honeymoon destination last year when he got married.

At the invitation of the bureau, the Hollywood star will again savor old memories in Taiwan and pay visits to local night markets and tea plantations, said David Hsieh, the bureau's director-general.

"It's great that our good friend Rob Schneider and his wife are so fond of Taiwan," Hsieh said.

One of the highlights of Schneider's visit will be a trip to Taiwan's northeastern coast to take wedding photos, a popular tradition for local couples due to the scenic spots that are within a few hours of drive of Taipei.

In addition, the Schneider couple will go to the Lungshan Temple in downtown Taipei to pray for good luck for their baby which is due in November, according to the bureau.

The photos and short films featuring Schneider will be used to promote Taiwan in North America, the bureau said.
