Day 1 - Departure from Australia / Arrive Taiwan Mar 04 (Thur) - Departure from Australia, flying with China Airlines' CI52 22:10, arrival at Taipei (Taoyuan) International Airport at approx 04:40PM, you will be met by your friendly Taiwan Holidays & Travels Tour Guide who will transfer you to your hotel where you will spend one night. You will be able to use the free time to explore the vibrant night life of Taipei, e.g. Taipei 101 Building, Night Markets... etc. Hotel: Grand Forward Hotel, Taipei(4«)
Day 2 - Taipei / Puli / Sun Moon Lake / Chiayi (B/L/D) Mar 05(Fri)- After breakfast, you will be transfer you to Nantou, where Sun Moon Lake is located. It is Taiwan's largest lake with the east side shaped like "Sun", and West side shaped like "Moon", hence the name "Sun Moon Lake". Sightseeing around the area includes: famous Wenwu Temple and Literature Warrior Temple dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword, Holy Monk Shrine and cruise around Sun Moon Lake. You will then be transfered to the "Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant" to have lunch at Puli, then depart for Chiayi, who is hosting the Taiwan 2010 Lantern Festival. The festival is held each year in a different county or city on the 15th of the first month on the lunar calendar. As an event with prominent cultural and local folk features, the event always draws participation by both local and foreign visitors and is an important tourist draw. Day 3 - Taichung / Tainan / Kaohsiung (B/L/X) Mar 06(Sat) - After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Tainan City, the ancient capital of Taiwan. Situated on the southwestern coastal plains of the island and enjoys a warm climate all year round. It is the island's oldest and now fourth largest city. With its long history, Tainan is rich in historical sites and cultural heritage. We will take you to visit the Taiwan International Orchid Festival. Each year, Tainan hosts an Orchid Festival in March - April and visitors from all parts of the globe travel here. Taiwan supplies over 50% of the world's orchids and more than 80% of Butterfly Orchids imported in the USA are from Taiwan. We will be attending the Opening Ceremony of the Orchid Exposition at Taiwan Orchid Plantation. Hotel: Tainan Hotel, Tainan(4«) Day 4 - Tainan City Tour / Kaohisung (B/X/X) Mar 07(Sun) - Today, you will have the opportunity to choose if you want to revisit Taiwan International Orchid Festival or take a Tainan City Tour. Tainan is the ancient city of Taiwan, which is full of cultural and heritage sites, some of the sightseeings include: Koxinga Shrine, Chihkan Lou and Chimei Museum, Anping Fort, Eternal Fortress (Yi Tzai Golden Castle). Day 5 - Kaohsiung / Kenting / Taitung (B/L/D) Mar 08(Mon) - Today, after breakfast we will visit the 18th Century's "Former British Consulate" which overlooks the panomatic Kaohsiung Harbour & City. The highlight for many visit Taiwan is a visit to Kenting National Park, undoubtedly one of the most beautifully reserved natural forest in Taiwan. It is located in south of Taiwan with popular beach bordering on the tropical region of Taiwan where palm tree, banana trees, sugar cane and surfing beach are part of the scene. It's an excellent place for swim, surf, and dive. Other sightseeings will be visited today are the southernmost tip of Taiwan, "Maopitou" (named after the shape of cat-nose-like rock.) The coast of coral reef is worth a visit for land-reforms which strongly affected by wave erosions, efflorescence, and salt-soaking. The natural landscape like wave erosion caves, ditches, and pillars are amazing, sea view here is attractive and very enjoyable. The Oluanpi Light House will also be visited (it is the world's first military equipped light house). We then continue to Taitung via the Scenic Southern Link Highway. Overnight at Taitung and enjoy a relaxing hot spring bath at the luxury hot spring resort in Chiben area. Hotel: Chiben Goya Hot Spring Resort, Taitung(4«)
Day 6 - Taitung / Hualien / Taipei (B/L/D) Mar 09(Tue) - This morning you will depart for Taroko National Park. Taroko Gorge is an exceptionally beautiful area of Taiwan. It is the "Seven Wonder of Asia", its narrow raving created by the Liwu River which has cut deep into the mountains of solid marble. A road carved into sheer walls of rock rewinding its way past forested peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders. Stops will be made at Eternal Spring Shrine, Swallow Grotto, Tunnel of Nine Turns, Marble Bridge, Tienshiang and Marble Factory. On our way back to Taipei, we will drive pass the "Chingshuei Cliff" located on the section of the Suao-Hualien Highway that stretches between Heping and Chongde stations, is one of the most spectacular sights on Taiwan's Pacific coast. The cliff is more than 1,000 meters high and drops almost vertically into the sea. The highway snakes along its curving face more than 20 kilometers, with the sheer cliff rising on one side and a sheer drop to the ocean on the other.We will then drive back to Taipei via Su-Hua Highway and Hsuei-Shan Long Tunnel (12.9 kilometers) to arrive Taipei at around 7PM, and then you will be driven to explore the vibrant night life of Taipei, e.g. Taipei 101 Building, Night Markets... etc. Hotel: Grand Forward Hotel, Taipei(4«)
Day 7 - Taipei / Theresa Deng Memorial Park / Tienshuei (B/X/X) Mar 10 (Wed): After breakfast, you will be taking to Chiufen Village, famous for its old mining town's charming characteristics. Many famous Taiwanese movies were shot here. After Lunch, we will depart for the memorial park for the most famous Taiwanese singer (Mandarin & Taiwanese) in the world - Miss Deng Li Dren (Theresa Deng). Then going to the Tienshuei (Fishman's Wharf). You will be able to see many interesting boutique shops that carries the history of Taiwan. The "Tienshuei Old Street" will be visited, where you can taste the many famous Taiwanese gourmet or snacks. Hotel: Grand Forward Hotel, Taipei(4«)
Day 8 - Taipei / Yangmingshan National Park / Taipei City Tour (B/L/X) Mar 11 (Thur):After breakfast, you will visit Taipei City Tour's must see places. Sightseeings for today are: Presidential Building (Pass by), Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall and National Palace Museum (has the largest Chinese art and painting collection). Lunch will be held at the famous restaurant inside the museum where the chef was favored by the ex-President Chen. After lunch, we will visit Martyrs' Shrine. And then depart for the Taiwanese Handicraft Centre. In the afternoon, enjoy a visit to an Orchid Garden in Taipei. Day 9 - Taipei (B/X/X) Mar 12 (Fri): After breakfast, you will have leisure time to explore the vibrant city of Taipei. Taipei is a shopholic's heaven. You can find all sorts of bargain to all the world famous brands at one shopping district. You can catch the MRT to many parts of the city, e,g. Ximending, Xingyi Shopping District, East Chungxiao Area for shopping. See some suggestions by click here. About 7PM in the evening, you will be transferred to the Taipei International Airport for flight back to Australia at 23:55PM.
Day 10 - Arrive Australia Mar 13 (Sat): The flight will arrive Sydney approximately at 11:05AM.
