Tourism Bureau ICT services win Innovative Destination Award

The Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) once again won unanimous acclaim for its diverse and excellent information and communications technology (ICT) applications and services from the judges at the International Federation for Information Technologies in Travel and Tourism’s annual ENTER Conference, garnering the 2014 Innovative Destination Award (IDA) for its intelligent marketing of tourism destinations.

The ENTER 2014 Conference, held January 23 in Dublin, Ireland, attracted almost 400 experts from industry, academia, and government from around the world to exchange and discuss relevant research as well as recognize the tourism organizations with the year’s best applications of ICT.

During the event, the Tourism Bureau demonstrated Taiwan’s accomplishments in the field by presenting its collaboration with Jinwen University of Science and Technology in “creating innovative applications of wireless ICT, providing diverse travel information services, and assisting international visitors to freely and smoothly travel in Taiwan,” the agency stated.

In addition, it introduced its intelligent wireless guide services designed to provide international tourists with seamless and friendly travel information services before, during and after their trips in Taiwan, such as the iTaiwan integrated wireless services and the Tour Taiwan and Taiwan Tourism Events apps.

In acknowledgement of its successful combination of ICT and all-encompassing marketing measures, the Tourism Bureau was awarded the IDA.
